Project Mariposas
Situated in the Andean mountain region, an area characterised by extensive evaporite deposits due to the high rate of evaporation and low precipitation.
The salar likely contains interbedded layers of clastic sediments (sands and silts) from ancient fluvial and lacustrine environments. The basin is a typical closed hydrological system, which facilitates the concentration of lithium and other salts through continuous evaporation processes. |
